Kagumo Coffee Factory

After serving their coffee during our first ever release of microlots, we were absolutely thrilled to connect with John Kagumo of Kagumo Coffee Factory on a personal level when some dear friends of ours were able to pay them a visit this summer (2025).

As is typical with African coffee production, Kagumo serves as a wet mill for 1,561 smallholder farmers in and around the Nyeri region in Kenya. Due to the sheer number of producers, coffee tracing in regions like Nyeri can be difficult when looking for specifics. Cooperative wet mills, like Kagumo, will instead champion the region as a whole while doing the work to process coffee for export.

While producing several of his own lots at the mill, John was proud to share that they accomplish both washed and natural processing methods; the latter resulting in a profound sweetness! The team at Kagumo also walked our friends through their extensive methods towards air purification and water conservation.

Our team is absolutely overjoyed to have opened the door to such an exciting partnership in the future, and already can’t wait for the brilliant flavors of the upcoming harvest in the fall.
